About Me
Experience
Across the last decade, I led and contributed to several large research projects. Currently, I lead and support work on assessing Germany’s compliance with the Climate Protection Act in LULUCF and agriculture. This includes auditing emissions inventories and projections, as well as analysing policy options for mitigation.
I enjoy developing open source software for research. For example, datacleanr is used by multiple research groups for reproducible processing of ecophysiological data.
Education and Teaching
I am trained in environmental sciences and ecology, data science as well as numerical modelling. My tools of choice are R and python.
I enjoy teaching methods in statistics, data science and project management, and contribute to open science by delivering workshops and making them openly available.
Previously, I worked on:
- Wetland-forest interactions to support the restoration of oil sand mines in Canada
- Climate adaptation of urban trees in the Helmholtz Climate Initiative
- Research software development
- Modelling ecological systems
My training includes:
- Certificate in Data Science ∙ SPICED Academy ∙ 2022
- Ph.D. in Physical Geography ∙ University of Birmingham ∙ 2022
- M.Sc. in Applied Ecology ∙ University of East Anglia ∙ University of Coimbra ∙ University of Poitiers ∙ 2015
- B.Sc. in Environmental Science ∙ University of Bayreuth ∙ 2013
